In this episode, Consultant Maha White has a conversation with Andrew about the challenge she hears with clients.
Maha migrated to Australia from Zimbabwe in 2008, and has built a career in Training and Competency, working with Registered Training Organisations and auditors before moving into Oil and Gas, and then joining TDG.
Maha has worked with both RTOs delivering nationally accredited units of competency, and organisations who deliver their own training and competency programs. Throughout her career, she has seen opportunities for standardised training; however that has often been coupled with a struggle to avoid oversimplification. Industries and organisations struggle to find the “goldilocks” just-right balance between standardisation and oversimplification that delivers safe, skilled and effective people.
We talk about:
- The risk of trainee fatigue creating unintentionally unsafe training outcomes.
- The critical difference between training and learning – and the impact that has on competency.
- Getting the balance right between standardisation and the risk of over-simplification.
- How to take the first step toward standardising training in your organisation.auditors
